NZ: The latest numbers in mag circulation revealed

Readership and circulation results came in all shapes and sizes for magazines in New Zealand, according to Nielsen’s recent quarterly analysis.

Like Australia, weekly magazine readerships experienced decrease in circulation. New Idea dropped from 33,756 to 32,001, NZ Woman’s Weekly from 60,682 to 55,529, The TV Guide from 118,805 to 113,485, and Woman’s Day from 100,415 to 92,057.

Monthly publications fared much better, with some magazines enjoying a spike in circulation results. This included NZ Rugby World, Build, Dish, Good, Green Ideas, Nursing Review, NZ Fishing World, NZ Geographic, NZ Life and Leisure and NZ Light Commercial Vehicle Magazine.

Fairfax experienced growth in the bi-monthly section, particularly in the lifestyle market, with a 40 per cent increase recorded for NZ Life & Leisure, 15.9 percent growth for NZ Lifestyle Block, and 3.9 per cent growth for NZ Gardener. A Fairfax spokesperson confirmed: “More New Zealanders are buying our top three lifestyle magazines this year than last year.”
