Instagram welcomes Stories

It looks like Instagram has taken a page out of Snapchat’s book with the social media platform introducing a new feature called Stories. The latest addition will allow users to share moments from their day, which are separate from those kept on a given profile. Those who share multiple photos and videos will be able to host them together in a slideshow.

Instagram explains: “Instagram has always been a place to share the moments you want to remember. Now you can share your highlights and everything in between, too. With Instagram Stories, you don’t have to worry about overposting. Instead, you can share as much as you want throughout the day – with as much creativity as you want.”

The photos and videos posted as a part of the feature will disappear after 24 hours, and will not be included in each user’s profile or feed. Instead they can be accessed via tapping on their profile photo. Comments or likes can’t be posted – there is only the option of sending a private message on Instagram Direct. The feature will be rolled out in the next couple of weeks.
