M.A.C Cosmetics’ global brand president has stepped down following 20 years of service with the brand.
Karen Buglisi Weiler took the decision to part with the brand to “prioritise personal commitments”. Her successor has been named as Birchbox’s former president Phillipe Pinatel. Pinatel will step into the role of M.A.C senior vice president and global general manager effective March 5.
While Buglisi Weiler will remain on hand to assist with Pinatel’s transition until the end of the financial year, The Estée Lauder Companies president and CEO Fabrizio Freda said of her departure: “I would like to sincerely thank Karen for the strong success she helped M.A.C achieve under her leadership and for her deep dedication to the brand.
“As Karen takes this important personal step forward, I am also thrilled to welcome Philippe to our company.
“The MAC brand will strongly benefit from his tremendous leadership in this important role.”
Estée Lauder’s executive group president, John Demsey, said: “Philippe shares our vision to propel the brand into its next chapter of growth, reinvigoration M.A.C’s presence and impact on the industry globally.
“He brings tremendous experience from disruptive online and retail channels that have experienced explosive growth under his direction.”
