Your first look at Karl Lagerfeld for ModelCo

Iconic fashion house KARL LAGERFELD announced its collaboration with Australian beauty brand ModelCo in May last year. Now the the entire product range has been revealed. 

Launching on May 14, the limited edition collection will feature a range of innovative and collectable beauty products, and will channel the theme of “Illuminated Beauty”. More than 50 units will be available globally through KARL LAGERFELD stores, KARL.com and ModelCo’s distribution network.

Speaking with WWD, Lagerfeld himself noted that while he uses colour cosmetics to shade his fashion illustrations, it is “very different than working on a makeup collection as a product. The technical part I don’t know about; I only know the aesthetic part.”

KARL LAGERFELD CEO Pier Paolo Righi expressed his excitement over the new collaboration in a statement: “This collaboration presents a new, very relevant way to connect with our audience, for whom we are much more than a fashion brand — we are a fashionable companion in their daily lives. Looking beautiful when going out is, of course, important to our consumers, and we are very happy that we can help them [do] so and can do it with a smile.”

ModelCo founder and CEO Shelley Sullivan echoed these sentiments, saying “We are honoured to partner with KARL LAGERFELD, one of the world’s most iconic names in design and make this the most coveted beauty collection of 2018.

“We felt that creating the Karl Lagerfeld + ModelCo beauty collection would fit nicely in our existing marketing plan and set the scene for our brand globally.”

The Aussie label initially caught Lagerfeld’s eye through their high-profile celebrity brand alignments, such as Hailey Baldwin for ModelCo.
