Founded by Melissa Haddad, a former MECCA team member turned lawyer, DEIA was born from her unwavering vision to create a beauty brand that celebrates the richness of the Australian landscape, formulated and made entirely on home soil.
“The lightbulb moment came during a scenic flight over Broome. The red earth against the turquoise water was otherworldly. I realised this land holds a kind of magic, and I knew I had to bottle that,” said Haddad.
Driven by a lifelong obsession with skincare and makeup, Melissa dove deep into the science of Australian botanicals, studying their powerful, skin-loving properties before collaborating with a local lab to bring DEIA’s first products to life.
Her industry roots at MECCA provided a front-row seat to what truly works from product innovation to building global cult beauty brands. It’s this rare combination of passion, insight and purpose that sets DEIA apart.

“The beauty space is already saturated, so we wanted to create multi-use products that do more with less,” added Haddad.
“StandStill isn’t just a setting spray it works overtime as a treatment mist to balance oil production and reduce breakouts. It’s skincare-meets-makeup at its finest.”
Each formula took years to perfect. LipCush went through 21 versions before hitting the mark, while StandStill was created, scrapped, and reformulated three times over. But that commitment to quality, purpose, and innovation is what defines DEIA.
“We’ve avoided the shortcuts. Our products are clean, effective, and skin-friendly because we believe you shouldn’t have to choose between beauty and wellbeing. We’re doing things differently and we want people to trust what’s in their beauty bag,” said Haddad.
