Tried & tested: On Counter July

The BD team road-tests all the new and noteworthy products hitting stores this July.

Lady Jayne Little Miss Jayne Bow Clips - Victoria
What it is: Bow clips that are perfect for young girls aged three and up.
My experience: Because they have a glittery sparkly coat to them, even the ones without the bow look outstanding when on. More than a regular, plain hairclip.
The grip is good and they are the right size to hold my daughter's fringe up or put her hair to the side.

Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick Bastille Day Collection - Dragana
What it is: A lipstick collection that has all the benefits of Bourjois’ best-selling Rouge Velvet The Lipstick.
My experience: Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipstick is really nicely packaged. Love the lock lid so that it doesn’t end up all over my bag like other lipsticks of mine from other brands, so that’s a big tick for me. The lipstick is really cute and so easy to apply. Love the colour, especially as a winter shade. The matte colour lipstick managed to stay on my lips for most of the day without having to reapply. Can’t wait to try the rest of the shades!

Manicare X Aje Fashion Tweezers - Jess
What it is: Precise and professional tweezers for a quick and easy brow shape up.
My experience: These tweezers are so cute! With the Aje collaboration comes a very stylish looking print, meaning the tweezers look extra cool in my makeup bag. I like to keep tweezers in my bag for a brow fix up on the go, and these have proved very handy. The precise tip makes it easy to give a professional looking finish.

KMS HAIRSTAY Anti-Humidity Seal - Issy
What it is: A styling spray formulated to shield hair against humidity.
My experience: This is a saviour in a can! My hair is naturally frizzy, therefore this spray has assisted in containing the frizz as it’s formulated with a sealing compound including trisiloxane, which has left my hair super shiny and easy to maintain. This has now become an everyday staple and has attributed to fighting against frizz caused by humidity.

Rodan + Fields REDEFINE Rejuvenation Mask - Tamara
What it is: A gel bubbling mask that hydrates skin and removes dead cells.
My experience: I have never used a bubbling mask and boy was this a treat! I have used the REDEFINE range from Rodan & Fields before, but this product was a standout. Once I applied the gel to my face; the gel started to bubble and after a few minutes I could feel all the little bubbles growing and popping on my skin, which really got the senses going. It felt great and after washing it off I could feel that my skin was extremely clean and all the excess oil was gone. This is a great mask that I will be adding to my weekly routine.

Revlon ColorStay Life-Proof™ Foundation Stick - Jamie
What it is: A medium coverage foundation stick that provides up to 24-hour wear.
My experience: This is a great foundation stick for touch ups on the go! It fits perfectly in my hand bag and since it is a stick, I don’t need to worry about any leaks! I love the semi-matte finish the Revlon ColourStay provides and how easily it applies. An added bonus is the SPF 27 coverage it provides, so I know my skin is looking flawless and it’s protected from the sun.

Jurlique Moisture Plus Rare Rose Serum - Sam
What it is: A serum is formulated with Jurlique rose and dwarf lilyturf root extracts to protect and supplement skin barrier function.
My experience: I have had a long-term obsession with the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist, so I jumped at the opportunity to try the Jurlique Moisture Plus Rare Rose Serum. This beautiful, nourishing face serum has the quintessential Jurlique rose scent and is light and balanced on the skin. I use this morning and night before applying my moisturiser as usual and find that it helps keep my skin nourished and bright for longer in comparison to moisturiser alone. A huge added bonus for me is that all Jurlique products are farm to face organic!

NIVEA 3-in-1 Anti-Age Hand Cream - Steph
What it is: A hand cream infused with Q10 to help visibly reduce the appearance of wrinkes and prevent UV-induced age spots.
My experience: I’m a firm believer of slathering my skin in SPF everyday and it's so important not to forget the hands! Our hands are constantly exposed to the elements and can often show signs of ageing faster than anywhere else. This hand cream is very light and soft in texture and sinks in speedily. It didn’t leave any tacky feeling or residue and it’s great relief to know my hands are nourished and protected!

Dermalogica Redness Relief Essence - Rachel
What it is: A lightweight serum to visibly reduce redness and sensitivity by strengthening the skin’s moisture barrier.
My experience: After my skin being extra sensitive and dry recently, this product came to me as a beacon of light. I’ve been using the Dermalogica Redness Relief Essence for the past week, twice a day, and I can really see how much it has helped in reducing redness and irritation on my face caused by some eczema flare-ups, whilst also bringing some much-needed hydration back to my skin! The lightweight formula enriched with skin-loving ingredients (from licorice root to aloe vera juice) absorbs quickly once applied and it instantly feels calming and soothing, causing no further irritation. I’m so happy it’s agreeing and improving my skin, it really is the extra step to my skincare routine I didn’t know I needed until now!

FRESH Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash - Tiarne
What it is: A multi-tasking face wash that gently exfoliates and cleanses while refining the skin’s texture to reveal soft, supple, smooth skin.
My experience: First off, this face wash smells delicious! Kind of like a mixture between lollies, jam and fruit. It gently exfoliates the skin using sugar crystals, which dissolve into a nice creamy texture after a while. After using it, my face felt so soft and nourished without being overly dry. It cleaned the skin super well, effectively removing makeup and oil without being too harsh. I’ve been using the Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash about three times a week, but I feel like you could easily use it everyday without experiencing any issues.

Manicare Sonic Mini Eye Wand - Alicia
What it is: A small handheld device that helps revive dull and tired looking eyes.
My experience: This Eye Wand is different to anything I have ever used before. Basically I popped a battery in, applied my eye serum and moved the wand in circular motions around my under eye area. After a minute it warmed up and gave my eye area a warm tingling sensation. The sonic vibration helped to massage my under eye, while the heat helped the serum to absorb and penetrate. It even has smart touch technology where you have to have the skin of your finger on a certain spot for it to work. I will definitely keep using it to see if I can get any results and smooth my under eye area.
