A new appointment at Bauer Media

As a parting gift to Bauer Media, outgoing CEO Matthew Stanton has promoted magazine executive and former editor-in-chief of Australian Women’s Weekly Deborah Thomas to editorial and media director of women’s magazines and custom publishing.

“The new job will see me liaise with the CEO and editors of all the women’s titles - that’s across the gamut from the Weekly to Harper’s Bazaar - to strive for editorial excellence,” says Thomas. “I’ll work with all the editors, respecting their roles, and when there’s an issue, I’ll step in and try to help manage it.”

Thomas’ editorial director role will see her act as an advisor on Bauer publisher Sebastian Kadas’ women’s magazine titles including Woman’s Day, Cleo and Dolly, and those of Jayne Ferguson, the publisher of NW, TV Week, Take 5 and OK!.

Thomas will also manage the in-house titles for companies including Myer, Qantas, Westfield, Cathay Pacific.
