Liz Kelsh gets into product development

With 20 years experience in the business, celebrity make-up artist Liz Kelsh has worked on some serious star potential - think John Galliano, Stella McCartney, Easton Pearson, Yeojin Bae, and Robert Cavalli. Now, Kelsh is excited to reveal the latest talent she’s been working with - Manicare.

Kelsh has collaborated with the beauty brand to create a range of 10 next-generation make-up brushes. Featuring improved bristles, tapered ferrules, light-weight handles and a new modernised design, the brushes can be used to blend, smudge and shade shadow seamlessly to achieve skin perfection.

To find out more about the collaboration, BEAUTYDIRECTORY took Liz Kelsh aside for a five minute chat...

Why did you decide to collaborate on a make-up brush range?
The key to flawless make-up is all in the blending, which makes good quality make-up brushes a very important tool. It can, however, be very confusing for the consumer to choose which brush to use. As a make-up artist, I've collected an abundance of brushes during my career, but I've always believed you only need a few well-chosen essentials to get you started. I've always dreamt of creating a capsule collection of essential brushes for effortless blending.

What was the appeal of working with Manicare?
Manicare is the market leader when it comes to beauty accessories. With 35 years experience producing beauty tools and my 20 plus years using them, it was a great collaboration.

What was your role in regards to the Manicare make-up brushes?
My role with Manicare brushes was very collaborative, workshopping on everything from [the] length and width of brush hairs to pack tips for application. I'm very excited for the launch of this range and I can’t wait for the user to discover how easy make-up can be with the right tools.

What is your favourite brush in the range?
If I was to only pick one brush from the range, it would be the eye-blending brush. An absolute must-have - this should definitely be the first purchase in your brush wardrobe. You will be amazed how easy it is to blend like a pro with this long-haired blending brush. Used to blend colours together seamlessly or soften the final look of a smokey eye to next level blending.

Are you hoping to extend into further product development?
Of course! The dream is always to extend into further product development… onwards and upwards
