Kim Kardashian addresses fragrance bottle controversy

If you have been on Instagram over the past few days you would have seen Kim Kardashian West’s new fragrance ‘KKW Body’ and the ensuing controversy surrounding the bottle design.

KKW Body’s bottle has been moulded to resemble Kardashian West’s naked form, which many (including elusive Diet Prada) have noted closely mirrors the design of Jean Paul Gaultier’s 1993 ‘Classique’ fragrance bottle; and Schiaparelli’s ’Shocking’ fragrance from 1937.

Both Gaultier and Schiaparelli have since taken to Instagram to subtly indicate its designs were here first, using the hashtags #first and #orginal.

Not one to let controversy slide, Kardashian West offered an explanation to Allure, saying:“I love the Jean Paul Gaultier bottle, and I totally get the reference; and I knew people would say that, but I just love [my perfume bottle] so much.

“I really wanted to make one of my body and do the whole mould process and we also did these body scans. I just thought it was just really fitting for me, personally.”

“I feel like I’m in the best shape that I’ve ever been in…So even though I didn’t prep specifically for this shoot, it paid off. If this had been a year ago, I wouldn’t have felt this comfortable doing it,” she added.

KKW Body is self described as “A narcotic elixir that offers an opening of bright, energetic bergamot embracing a burst of juicy peach nectar.”
