Max Factor welcomes back Marilyn Monroe

As the man responsible for helping to transform Norma Jeane into the vivacious Marilyn Monroe, has long held a relationship with the iconic actress - and now the brand is once more teaming up with the blonde bombshell.

Entering Max Factor’s Blonde Room as the brunette Norma Jeane in the late 1940s, she emerged as Marilyn Monroe - complete with platinum blonde hair and a new beauty look thanks to Mr Max Factor. After that, Max Factor make-up was Monroe’s go-to brand.

2015 sees Monroe return to the brand, with news she is the new global glamour ambassador for Max Factor. New TV, print and online campaigns featuring both Jeane and Monroe will roll out globally from January 6.

“Marilyn is the ultimate beauty icon, her statement Ruby Tuesday red lips, for which she is known, are both timeless and modern. The incredible transformation in the hands of Max Factor from timid Norma Jean to powerful Marilyn Monroe is the most fantastic example of the magic of make-up,” says Max Factor Australia head make-up artist Liz Kelsh.

Max Factor global creative design director Pat McGrath adds, “Marilyn made the sultry red lip, creamy skin and dramatically lined eyes the most famous beauty look of the 1940s and it’s a look that continues to dominate the beauty and fashion industry. It is the ultimate look that defines glamour – nothing else compares. Through make-up artistry and the right products, Max Factor helps women today to identify their best features so they can undergo their own glamour transformation.”

Max Factor Cosmetics vice president Esi Eggleston Bracey concludes, “Max Factor have always believed that glamour matters – and that glamour itself exists beyond make-up, it’s an approach to life that Marilyn embodied so perfectly. With Marilyn as our new ambassador, we’re preparing for an extremely exciting 2015 – a year where we will be focusing our attention on reigniting the love and playfulness of glamour with consumers through a series of social and brand campaigns that will propel Max Factor to the front of women’s minds as the brand synonymous with glamour.”

To coincide with the Monroe announcement, Max Factor will be launching its #GlamJan campaign in January, encouraging women to post their most glamorous transformation selfie on social media.
