POPSUGAR launches social media tool

Being social media savvy these days isn’t an added bonus, it’s an integral component to any growing digital business. Now POPSUGAR has ensured any business can confirm just how on the pulse it is with the company’s latest tech development TrendRank.

The predictive data tech tool monitors what topics are trending right now, and also predicts future trending topics. POPSUGAR svp of product marketing and sales strategy Chris George says it is going to be a useful tool for many: "With 75 percent of our audience coming from mobile devices, your social page is the new homepage." The tool is set to be a predictive one, with George continuing, “You can go to social platforms to see what's currently trending. But this tool sees what's going to be trending."

The immediacy of the product is what makes it stand out to market. "We're looking at over 12 million data points every day," says George. "Every 30 minutes, TrendRank checks hundreds of publishers to see their last 250 posts. From there, the tool extracts the topics of those posts and records the number of engagements." Brands will also be able to see which publishers are integrating them in content and how frequently articles are being shared.

At present, TrendRank is available solely within the company, but that’s set to change says George: “[Our] intention is to roll out to brand partners and our content creation side."
