Depths of Beauty's Emmily Banks launches magazine

At a time when magazine closures are sadly rife, announcements that a brand new one is launching couldn't be more cheering. In addition to that, when the content of said magazine focuses on holistic health and beauty, empowering stories about trailblazing women, and a little bit of astrology thrown in for good measure, the anticipation is palpable.

The individual behind this exciting launch is makeup artist and founder of Depths of Beauty, Emmily Banks. With her new project, Depths Magazine, Banks has extended the scope of her natural beauty platform and captures the zeitgeist by talking (predominantly) to females about beauty, wellness and living consciously.

In honour of the digital and print magazine's launch this month, BEAUTYDIRECTORY chatted to Banks about how the project came to fruition, what readers can expect and of course, where to find it.

Tell us about Depths Magazine and what readers can expect?
Depths Magazine dives deep into sharing the healthiest, most ethical and high performing brands and businesses whilst telling the stories of inspiring women and men creating positive change in the world.

As the leading online natural beauty platform globally, we take our ethos seriously – while providing the support, knowledge and information for all women to cultivate beauty from within and without.

Why did you decide to start the magazine and what have you enjoyed most about its creation?
As the leading online platform for natural beauty globally, I see it as our responsibility to highlight the importance of making the natural, conscious switch on a mainstream platform. Launching the magazine as part of our national She’s A Natural influencer campaign just seemed like the natural next step (pun intended). 

I want to highlight that natural, organic and ethical brands perform so beautifully by showcasing them through eco-luxe inspired editorials – alongside articles from influential women who share the true depths of embodying beauty from within. 

It has been amazing to see the magazine evolve from scratch – from collaborating and connecting with so many inspiring, trailblazing women, to shooting my favourite natural brands in an eco-luxe editorial context.

I’ve most enjoyed watching the entire creative process unravel, from choosing the ethical businesses and people we want to feature to brainstorming with my superstar team about topics for each story. I have also felt so humbled to be joined and supported by every single conscious influential woman we have invited to be featured. I also loved seeing the Magazine come to life with my graphic designer – I have always been very attracted to stunning visuals telling a story, so its been really magic painting our Depths tale.
