Stella McCartney to launch new scent

Stella McCartney’s second major scent is named L.I.L.Y, after her father’s nickname for her mother, while also giving a nod to the fragrance’s interesting combination of ingredients.

[The name L.I.L.Y] comes from my dad’s nickname for my mum: Linda I love you,” the English designer explains.

The name also makes reference to the heart notes of the fragrance, Lily of the Valley. I love it as a flower, and so did my mum – it’s delicate, feminine, innocent. It was part of my bridal bouquet,” McCartney said.

Interestingly, the base notes are oak moss, while the top notes are truffle. Master perfumer Jacques Cavallier, who worked with McCartney on the scent, agrees that truffle was an odd choice. The truffle was unusual, but I said OK to Stella,” he said. We used natural extract of truffle, and I actually told the suppliers we were working with that the extract was for a restaurant! I didn’t want to let people know what we were doing.”
