On the back of last year's win for best packaging design at the Australian Hair and Fashion Awards, Art of Hair's Limited Edition Art Series collaboration is back for a second year with three artists coming on board for the 2016 campaign.
Last year saw Emma Mulholland, Andrew Archer and Dean Carlyle deliver unique packaging ideas for Shu Uemura Art of Hair, with the designs going on to achieve cult-status among beauty influencers and tastemakers. It’s set to be a similar story in 2016, with this time round seeing the brand team up with accessories designer Poppy Lissiman, artist Anya Brock, and painter and illustrator Billie Justice Thomson.
While the designs themselves are a highly guarded secret, Shu Uemura Art of Hair general manager Sandra Kelly has revealed the packaging will lend itself heavily to vibrancy, textural form, and powerful motifs.
"Currently underway are three of the most colourful, artistic and diverse interpretations of product packaging I have seen. We are incredibly excited to have secured such a high calibre of Australian artists – two of whom are creating custom artworks – to bring stunning artistry, vivid colours, abstract shapes and eclectic inspirations to our salons and ultimately to homes all around Australia,” says Kelly.
The three artists were chosen as their distinctive aesthetic reflects the brand's approach to effortless beauty and hair. The collaboration is set to launch in August.
