Brazilian butt lifts overtake breast augmentation in popularity

Earlier this year, stats released by clinic comparison site Whatclinic.com revealed that enquiries for breast implants had dropped a staggering 33 per cent in the past year. Now, it has been revealed that those no longer searching for breast augmentation surgery may instead be investing in Brazilian butt lifts.

Medical groups estimate that the number of butt lifts rose in Australia by 26 per cent last year; while breast augmentation only rose by two per cent.

A ‘Brazilian butt lift’ sees the patient receive fat injections to plump the rear, which is liposuctioned from other fatty zones around the body like the stomach and thighs.

Perth plastic surgeon Glenn Murray spoke with Nine News about the findings, further explaining that the procedure has become so popular he went from performing 80 butt lifts over his 19 year surgical career, to performing 220 of the procedures over the past five years.

Ultimately the trend is said to be following on from the US, where celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner tend to dictate body goals.
