Bio-Oil® launches first new product in 30 years

Bio-Oil® has become a household name, recognised for its award-winning, best-selling stretchmark oil that launched over 30 years ago. Now, the brand is launching a new product with an innovative formula set to change the way we care for dry skin.

Introducing Bio-Oil® Dry Skin Gel, which has been engineered to combat dry skin more effectively thanks to a pioneering method that replaces water with oil, making the product 100 per cent active.

While some body lotions and creams are made with high water content – which tends to evaporate on contact with skin – Bio-Oil®’s new gel formula is made with a high level of oil which locks in moisture, specifically designed for dry skin sufferers. The Dry Skin Gel contains only 3 per cent of water in comparison to most body creams which contain around 70 per cent.

In a user trial conducted on dry skin sufferers, the majority said it was better than anything that they had used before for dry skin. 92 per cent of participants agreed that “the product leaves skin feeling immediately moisturised” and 86 per cent of participants agreed that “their dry skin improved over the course of the two-week period”.

With the gel being an oil, substantially less is needed to cover the same body area as a cream. In the trial 96 per cent of participants agreed that “a little goes a long way”.

The new product is set to launch into pharmacies in February and can be downloaded on BD now.

The original Skincare Oil is still winning awards; most recently Bio-Oil® won the Gold Award for Best Stretchmark Product in the OHbaby! Awards, and was included in the Top Ten Most Recommended Products.

The Colmar Brunton survey conducted in September/October 2018 revealed Bio-Oil® Skincare Oil is the product most recommended by GP’s for scars and stretchmarks. Just under 2 in 3 doctors recommend the oil as a product for scar management, and almost two thirds of doctors recommend Bio-Oil® Skincare Oil for reducing the appearance of stretch marks.
