It is already the biggest beauty and cosmetics industry event in the Asia Pacific region and the second largest beauty trade show in the world, but this year’s Cosmoprof Asia held in Hong Kong from November 9-11 recorded its largest numbers to date.
With 1780 exhibitors - up 9 per cent from 2010 – Cosmoprof Asia showcased 477 newcomers and innovative brands in addition to established industry leaders, proving despite touch economic times, the beauty industry is still on the rise.
Exhibition space has increased by 18 per cent since 2010, reaching 68,000 sqm, and the event featured brands and companies from 23 different countries.
Australia was one of the countries that had a presence at the trade show, with 17 exhibitors for perfumery, cosmetics and toiletries and 12 exhibitors for natural health. Cosmoprof events are often a platform for new and exciting products and technologies to be launched.
Noteworthy releases at this year’s event included Skinn Cosmetics Collagenesis Stem Rejen that involves new anti-ageing technology which uses plant peptides to mimic human growth hormones. They also launched their Plasma Foundation that uses pigments so fine they remain in a state of gas and suspend themselves over the skin to produce an airbrush finish.
Medical aesthetics company Pollogen Ltd highlighted its TriLipo MED procedure that allows practitioners to use a single device to treat all four layers of the skin – the epidermis, dermis, hypodermis and muscle – delivering superior anti-ageing results.
Syneron Medical Ltd used Cosmoprof Asia for the international launch of its eLase Laser Hair Removal System. The eLase system combines Syneron’s proprietary elos bi-polar radio frequency energy with diode laser energy to allow high frequency, lower energy treatments which are virtually pain free and lead to shorter treatment times.
Stands weren’t the only place witnessing new developments, with live shows, demonstrations and education seminars also playing host to a range of innovative ideas, experiences and launches.
During a live demonstration at the Spa Soul stage, its sponsors 3 Sisters Restorasis, Aroma Vera, Mt. Sapola and PhytoCeuticals presented innovative concepts and techniques such as the first self-sterilising 100 per cent natural lipid complex that accelerates dermal renewal.
Education sessions were also held on the current beauty and wellness industry in Japan, an analysis of the current situation and trends in the Chinese cosmetic market, an explanation of the new Chinese Government cosmetic regulations and new technology for sustainable beauty cosmetic and design freedom through process innovation.
