Products the bd team tested (and loved) this week.

Although I tend to use products that are specific to meeting anti-ageing needs, I wanted to try this moisturiser because Sydney’s recent windy weather has left my cheeks looking a little red and sore. The addition of rosehip oil and aloe vera in the formulation also made me feel confident that it would soothe and keep my skin hydrated.  With a very light fragrance of vanilla, the moisturiser felt lightweight and was absorbed easily. I used it morning and night over a rosehip serum and found that it left my skin feeling soft and hydrated, even after a morning walking at the beach in the wind. My cheeks calmed down and felt soothed. I even tried it on my 11-year-old Charlie who was also suffering from pink cheeks after a session at the skatepark! He really liked the feel of it and the fact that it absorbed immediately. It is much lighter than a moisturiser I would usually use but I would definitely use it if my face felt sensitive or sore – and it would be a great moisturiser to take on holiday when the weather might be more humid. - Janet

I’ve never been one for fake tanning. Spending half my life in the sun, I’ve never really needed to before. But after my less-than-impressive skin damage test earlier this year, this summer I’m going to be embracing the sunscreen and fake tan recommendations I’m always reading about but forever ignoring. My first foray into the fake tan business has already got me raving. The Le Tan cream is as easy as putting on a moisturiser, develops into a beautiful bronzed tan (no streaks and no orange – my two biggest fears when it comes to fake tan) and the coconut smell is ah-mazing (no traces of that nasty fake tan smell). Ten out of ten for me. – Yelena

I haven’t used a toner since I was 14, when they were full of alcohol and stripped the skin. Recently I’ve been feeling like my cleansers aren’t removing all my make-up, so I have crawled back to the toning cupboard to try the modern version of the fluid. Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Face Tonic is enriched with algae extract and hydrating botanicals to remove the last traces of make-up, soothe and soften the skin and prepare the complexion for moisturising. I have to say I’m very impressed with the product. It removes the last traces of make-up that I thought were already gone and leaves my skin smooth and comfortable. There is no skin tightness associated with using the product, and because you only use a small amount of liquid at a time, it will last for quite a while. Coat a cotton pad with the tonic and wipe it over the face after cleansing – you’ll love the results. – Liz

Garnier Body Intensive 7 Days Soothing Gel-Lotion

Unfamiliar with the concept of a gel-lotion, I conducted a little test on myself with this one. My legs are constantly dry (especially coming out of winter), so I want a hard-working moisturiser that isn't going to come off the second I step into the shower. I applied Garnier's Body Smoothing Gel-Lotion on one leg, leaving the other one dry for the time being. I then went for a run after work, showered and then showered again the next day. 24 hours later, the leg I'd applied the lotion on was still noticeably more hydrated than the other. Over a week's period (having regularly applied to both legs), my skin remained hydrated and smooth. This product is going to live on my desk this summer. - Lucy
