Today, media attended the launch of Skin Institute’s Dermagun treatment – a high-tech skin-enhancing treatment praised for its ease and skin-changing capabilities.
The nature of the professional skincare industry is constantly evolving as technology advances, so we were eager to see what’s different about this innovative treatment.
What is it?
Put simply, Skin Institute’s Dermagun treatment uses a sophisticated injection gun to deliver a nourishing substance called Teosyal Redensity directly into the top layer of the skin. Teosyal is a powerfully hydrating hyaluronic acid supplemented with vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidant factors that improves skin hydration, boosts collagen production and assists the skin’s resistance to UV damage. It's predicted to become industry standard in New Zealand because of the increasing rate of sun damage, with signs as early as late twenties.
How it works
“Dermagun delivers hyaluranon directly into the skin using multiple fine needles. The multi-needles have a double benefit of stimulating collagen production directly themselves, while also delivering nourishing substances at exactly the right level in the skin for maximum benefit.”
Dermagun uses a unique suction capability to stabilise the skin which allows the needles to precisely deliver the Teosyal to the correct layer of the skin and helps to reduce discomfort.
The result
With a recommended course of three initial treatments, followed by six to 12 monthly top-up sessions, patients can expect increased skin hydration, boosted collagen production and improved skin resistance to UV damage.
Dermagun is designed to increase hydration and make skin look more radiant. It benefits the face, neck and décolletage, and due to its high precision, can also be used on the delicate skin under the eyes.
Skin Institute’s Dr Sarah Hart says the game-changing device is becoming highly popular as it appears particularly beneficial for the dehydrated, sun damaged skin seen in many Kiwis. The ease of treatment and the rewarding effects are proving a hit with eager patients.
“Patients report their skin feels firmer and smoother” says Dr Hart “This corresponds with microscopic evidence showing increased density of the dermis, or second layer of the skin, as a result of treatment”.
Studies also show the antioxidant ingredients assist the skin to become more resistant to damage when exposed to UV rays, which is attractive to New Zealand patients in a high UV environment.
Why Dermagun?
The treatment boasts visible results with minimal downtime (beauty editors take note - a must-include for those walk in walk out lunchtime treatment features!)
Some patients may experience some redness and blotchiness may occur immediately after the treatment, it will usually disappear within 24 hours. Minor bruising and small lumps of product under the skin are sometimes seen, but generally resolve within a couple of days.
“Skin Institute favours an approach that leaves our patients looking and feeling significantly better, without any visible signs of what people would consider ‘work’. says Dr Hart. “Dermagun’s subtle, natural-looking results fit well with this philosophy,”
Dermagun is most effective as three initial treatments, to be followed by six to 12 monthly top-up sessions, depending on how long your results last.
The clinic is offering a 30-minute complimentary consultation with specialist nurses to determine whether Dermagun is the right treatment for any interested individuals.
