A vitamin C treatment, but not as you know it

DMK, one of the world’s most recognised names in skincare, is changing the way therapists use vitamin C to deliver results to the skin. The brand’s new Fiberblast C utilises vitamin C in its most bioactive form, offering benefits for ageing, acne-prone and problematic skin. The add-on can be incorporated into any DMK facial treatment.

The secret to the efficacy of Fiberblast C is in the way it has been developed. Traditionally, topical vitamin C products have to depend on stabilised forms of vitamin C, which have been molecularly altered with chemicals to protect it from oxidising and denaturing. In this instance, DMK has discovered how to stabilise pure vitamin C in a liquid form without jeopardising its potency or bioavailability.

Debbie Dickson, DMK’s director of education, explains that ascorbic acid, which is the strongest form of vitamin C, is very unstable, making it difficult to use in quantities of more than 5 per cent in a serum. Fiberblast C allows us to stabilise 20 per cent pure ascorbic acid in a micro-encapsulated silica,” says Dickson. Under a highly technical procedure, liquid droplets are encapsulated in silica particles. These encapsulated droplets form a dry, free flowing powder that is predominantly liquid, so when you apply it to the skin it just melts like butter.”

Although it pours and acts like a powder, when Fiberblast C is gently rubbed across the skin, body heat and milk friction will break the silica links, releasing the liquid onto the skin. The skin easily absorbs the vitamin C emulsion so the product can immediately begin providing its antioxidant and collagen building benefits.

Dickson also points out that the unique combination of ascorbic acid and silica has its own advantage. When we are young, silica levels in our body are high and our bones and joints are flexible,” she says. As we age, silica levels decline and without adequate tissue levels of silica, we manifest many of the symptoms of ageing.”

Combined with the benefits of vitamin C, this new offering from DMK has the ability to tackle multiple skincare concerns. The first thing consumers will notice after having a treatment with Fiberblast C is wrinkles and fine lines dramatically reduce, and the skin is tighter,” says Dickson. Fiberblast C also reduces redness and fragile capillaries. The colour of the skin becomes really bright and glowing, pigmentation is reduced, and open pores diminish. Fiberblast really rebuilds and strengthens the skin.”

In addition to these benefits, the ingredients in Fiberblast C are known to encourage collagen production through the fibroblast cells, act as an antioxidant and free radical scavenger to protect the skin, help brighten the skin and offer some protection against UVB damage, and assist people suffering from acne.

Fiberblast C is great on an acne skin to promote healing and also to prevent scarring,” says Dickson. Fiberblast C is also excellent when used in conjunction with DMK scar revision treatments and also for revision of stretch marks.”

All in all, this new technology provides another tool for therapists to incorporate into treatment protocols to really get clients faster and more targeted results, says Dickson. Fiberblast C treatment is seriously addictive – it feels amazing on the skin and the results are visible.”
