When it comes to hypotheticals, the “what is the one beauty product you would want if you were stranded on a desert island” is a query that crops up a lot among people in beauty industry circles. But while Drew Barrymore would take a concealer and Eva Longoria puts mascara at the top of her list, the majority of Australians would pack their trusty moisturiser. According to a recent survey commissioned by Australia, 63 per cent of Australian women admitted moisturiser would be their top desert island pick.
Even though Australian women recognise the value in packing a good moisturiser, 89 per cent of those surveyed said there are parts of their body they should moisturise more regularly. A further 71 per cent don’t frequently moisturise areas regularly covered by clothes. Lack of time and routine were blamed as the main culprits behind this trend.
The research found most women regularly moisturise their hands (87.2 per cent), legs (69.7 per cent) and neck (69.3 per cent), but are guilty of neglecting other parts of the body. Proper body moisturising also saw women having to enlist their partners, with 37 per cent getting help from their significant other when moisturising hard-to-reach body parts like the back.
With Palmolive recently launching their Oil Infusions skincare range featuring essential oils, the brand used the study to also take a closer look at the inclusion of fragrance in a body moisturiser. It was found 55 per cent prefer it to be fragranced, with 55 per cent saying this is because it makes them smell nice for the day. Most popular scents included clean and fresh, natural smelling and florals.
