Pinterest reveals 2019's top beauty trends

For the fifth year running, Pinterest has revealed the top trends for 2019 according to what has been saved most on the site.

Beauty-wise, the Pinterest 100 report reveals that 2019 is about mixing natural styles with pows of gloss and colour.

Pinterest also reports that women from all different cultures, with all different skin tones, are coming to Pinterest to find ideas to try – and they are 2.4x more likely to experiment with different makeup vs. women on other platforms.

Hooray for grey

More and more people are growing out their natural grey hair and embracing it. Searches for ‘going grey’ have increased by 879 per cent since last year.

Big bang theory

The next big thing in hair styles is ‘baby fringes’. Searches for ‘short fringes’ have increased by 51 per cent since last year. The just-above-the-brow crop is having a moment and will transition through to 2019.

Dip in

The latest nail technique is called ‘powder dipping’ and has a cult following due to it lasting longer than traditional gels – it’s also easier to remove. Searches for ‘power-dip nails’ have increased by 442 per cent since last year.

Ooh-la-lashes

A lash lift, but natural. With a 52 per cent increase in searches for natural lash lifts since last year, people are opting for natural solutions – such as castor oil, grapeseed oil and aloe vera – to lift their lashes.

Just like magic

Witch hazel is becoming a star ingredient when it comes to sorting out skin issues such as acne. The old-school ingredient is a natural alternative to salicylic acid – and has seen a 305 per cent increase in searches.

Go glossy

It turns out we’re still all about shine –glossy lids and lips continue to dominate with searches for ‘glossy make-up’ increasing by 89 per cent since last year.

The standout pout

The bolder the better in this case. According to Pinterest a popular, go-to look is bold red lips paired with barely-there makeup. Searches for ‘standout lip colour' have increased by 467 per cent since last year.

Almond joy

The new nail shape making waves is almond, named after the rounded shape of the nut. Searches for ‘almond nails’ have seen a 97 per cent increase since last year.

The next exfoliant

The secret to brighter, smoother skin is gentle liquid exfoliators, with the search term ‘liquid exfoliator’ increasing by 58 per cent.

Lilac locks

This is a shade that’s set to be everywhere in 2019. Seen on Kylie Jenner, this pastel hair colour trend is growing fast, with searches for ‘lilac hair’ increasing by a huge 1,077 per cent.
