Vloggers open up about their plastic surgery

With Kylie Jenner today confirming her use of lip fillers, it seems the reality TV star is just one of many in the beauty world discussing just what they’re getting nipped and tucked.

Vloggers are taking to their video channels to not only discuss contouring and false lashes, but also surgical enhancements. Many vloggers are not only openly admitting to having surgery, but are welcoming conversations about their choice, as well as the process involved.

Nic Haste of UK vlogging page Pixiwoo told her 1.8 million Youtube fans that she decided to give lip fillers a try. She admitted: “I kind of really didn’t think about it… please don’t tell my mum.”

Vlogger Ingrid Nilsen went one step further and invited her plastic surgeon, Dr Miller, online to answer questions. “Because I know body confidence is such a huge issue right now… I decided to ask Dr. Miller if he would be willing to answer your questions. I feel like he was really helpful for me, so I want to extend that to you guys,” Nilsen explained to her followers.

Meghan Rienks is another American vlogger who has documented her dabbling with plastic surgery. The 21-year-old hosts two separate YouTube channels - one for beauty and one for lifestyle - and utilised the digital platform to record her personal rhinoplasty journey for her 1,500,000 subscribers.

In Australia, there are less vloggers who have undergone (or are willing to discuss) their surgery experiences. But founder of The Plastic Diaries Kimberly Nissen tackled the topic on her aptly named website. She continues to use the media platform to dissect her journey with plastic surgery, as well as provide a forum for facts and discussion on surgery, beauty and the greater wellbeing sector.
