Q&A with Mossop’s

We sat down with Mossop's National Sales and Marketing Coordinator Venita Fabbro, to learn about the family grown Kiwi business leading the way in natural, honey based skincare.

What are top three concerns when it comes to producing good skin care and why are natural ingredients important?

On today's shop shelves you will find a selection of 'natural' products. However, when you turn the product over and have a look at the ingredient list, how many ingredients are actually ‘natural’? Do consumers actually understand the meaning of 'natural' within the cosmetic industry? And why are there no defined regulatory standards for the use of the term ‘natural’? These are just some of the concerns we see within the natural cosmetic industry.

To produce a good skin care range, not only must your product be to a high standard but you must also do good by consumers and deliver a product that is what you say it is. If you have nothing to hide you shouldn’t have to sugar coat it.

We believe that what you put on your skin affects your body, that’s why we wanted to produce a product range that is TRULY 100% natural and packed with plenty of nutrients your body will love!

Why is honey a good ingredient for skin care?

 UMF®15+ Manuka Honey is what started the journey to creating a natural skin care range!

It was 2002 when Wendy Mossop (General Manager of Mossop’s) witnessed the special properties of Mossop’s UMF® Manuka honey when she saw how it healed a wound from a skin cancer operation her mother had struggled to have healed conventionally. Not only did the wound completely heal but the skin became soft, supple and smooth like a baby’s.This opened Wendy’s eyes to the amazing benefits of honey internally and externally but it wasn’t until 2007 when Wendy met a cosmetologist capable of developing a genuinely natural range of products that uses a unique blend of natural ingredients, that we saw the birth of Mossop’s Natruél skincare range.

What does Mossop’s achieve by keeping the business in the family?

One thing I’ve learned from working in a generational family business is that they know who they are, they know where they have come from and they know where they are going. They hold a lot of knowledge, traditions and processes that have been passed down from generation to generation. Its almost like it can’t be taught, they’re just born with it and I think that’s what makes it unique.

What are the brand’s hero products? Why?

Our age replenishing system is our most popular system. Suitable for a range of skin types it rejuvenates skin to a soft and elastic texture by increasing skin cell growth. It’s developed with UMF®15+ Manuka honey to regenerate skin tissue, antioxidant Rewarewa honey to reduce free radicals, Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil for nourishing and protecting and Cold Pressed Flaxseed Oil to repair dry skin, plus a unique blend of essential oils to leave your skin balanced, hydrated and smooth. What is Mossop’s vision for the future?

We want to continue growing our range and have more stockists around the country for consumers to purchase from. We would also like to re-design our packaging with a fresh new look.
