The lowdown on fat freezing

Non-surgical treatments are surging in popularity and it’s not hard to see why. They are often less painful, save time and don’t require any incisions.

The latest is called Cooltech, a cutting-edge body sculpting treatment dubbed an alternative to liposuction – available at Skin Institute clinics. Results are permanent and the process is quick and comfortable. So what’s different about this innovative treatment? We investigate how it works.

What is it?

Cooltech is a non-surgical, pain-free treatment that freezes fat tissue while respecting the collagen and skin elasticity.

It offers a solution to those wanting to get rid of stubborn areas of fat – almost any area of the body can be treated, including neck, arm pits, back, thighs, buttocks, upper arms, stomach and knees. Only one or two treatments are usually needed on each area.

Currently, more than one million Cooltech treatments have been performed in more than 40 countries with a high level of success.

How it works

Cryoadipolysis technology removes fat deposits by targeting, freezing and permanently killing unwanted fat.

As fat tissue is significantly more vulnerable to temperature change than other types of body tissue, it is able to crystallise and die. The cells are then removed gradually through your body’s natural processes.

Hand pieces of various sizes are used on different areas of the body and work at temperatures between 3°C and -8°C depending on the thickness of fat.

It doesn’t require any incisions, doesn’t damage skin, and the process is both quick and comfortable.

Who is it for?

It works best for those in good physical shape, who want to tackle fat that doesn’t go away with a healthy lifestyle and exercise. Cooltech is not designed to treat obesity.

The result

As shown in clinical studies, one session with one hand piece is able to reduce an area by 2.5cm diameter.

After treatment, fat cells take time to eliminate so results can be seen around 15 days after, and optimal results will be visible two months later. The outcome is permanent when combined with a healthy, low-fat diet and regular exercise.
