AFW 2026 backstage report: NAGNATA

NAGNATA x KEVIN.MURPHY x Weleda backstage report – May 13th, 2026

Luxury lifestyle brand NAGNATA unveiled its ‘FUTURE = FIBRE’ collection at AFC Australian Fashion Week presented by Shark Beauty, defined by elevated minimalism and earthy textures and tones.

Created in partnership with KEVIN.MURPHY, Hair Director, Paloma Rose Garcia led the backstage hair direction, crafting a look that felt sleek, natural, and quietly refined to complement the collection’s clean lines and soft structure.

Weleda was the official skincare partner for NAGNATA with Lead Makeup Director, Victoria Baron using the iconic Weleda Skin Food range to create a skin-first look rooted in preparation, health and quiet luminosity.

The look:

"The beauty direction for NAGNATA is a natural extension of the collection itself, reflecting the same sense of restraint, tactility, and thoughtful refinement present throughout the garments and styling," explained NAGNATA Founder and Creative Director, Laura May Gibbs.

"The space, silhouettes, and movement of the fabrics against the body inform a minimalist approach to hair and makeup that feels instinctive, understated, and quietly refined rather than overtly constructed."

"The collection’s grounded, earthy palette naturally guides the beauty direction, with tones and textures chosen to complement rather than distract."

The hair:

"The hair look is sleek, simple, and beautifully understated," shared KEVIN.MURPHY Hair Director, Paloma Rose Garcia.

"We wanted the hair to feel natural with a soft finish – not overly polished or high shine."

"It’s about healthy-looking hair with subtle texture and clean direction that complements the minimal aesthetic of the collection."

The skin:

Working alongside Lead Makeup Director, Victoria Baron, Weleda’s natural skincare formed the foundation of a beauty direction that was instinctive, understated and quietly refined.

"The beauty direction for NAGNATA is a natural extension of the collection itself, reflecting the same sense of restraint, tactility, and thoughtful refinement present throughout the garments and styling," said Baron.

"The space, silhouettes, and movement of the fabrics against the body inform a minimalist approach to hair and makeup that feels instinctive, understated, and quietly refined rather than overtly constructed."

"There is a strong relationship between what sits on the skin of the body and what sits on the skin of the face, whether through fabric, skincare, or makeup, with every element designed to feel absorbed, considered, and effortlessly integrated."

"The collection’s grounded, earthy palette naturally guides the beauty direction, with tones and textures chosen to complement rather than distract."

"The philosophy of Weleda feels inherently aligned, embodying a deep connection to skin health, vitality, and nature."

"Skin preparation becomes an essential part of the process, beginning with Skin Food Nourishing Cleansing Balm to gently remove impurities, followed by Skin Food Super Serum and Skin Food Original deeply massaged into the complexion."

"The intention is to create skin that feels calm, hydrated, supple, and naturally luminous – skin that appears healthy and alive from within rather than polished or artificial."

"The makeup itself remains soft and effortless. Lips are first conditioned with Weleda Skin Food Lip Balm before being gently blotted to remove excess shine."

"A blurred brown-berry lip stain in a soft velvet matte texture is then buffed into the lips with a brush so the colour feels almost internal, as though it belongs naturally to the skin rather than sitting on top of it."

"The cupid’s bow is softly refined with a brown lip pencil, adding subtle structure while maintaining the lived-in softness and modern restraint of the overall look," explained Baron.
