Your ultimate guide to getting date night ready

Getting ready for Valentine’s Day, or any date night for that matter, can be a daunting process. The little things like what to wear, how to style your hair or what lipstick colour to use can make us frantic.

In order to look like your best possible self, it all starts off with your base. A good skincare routine can do wonders to keep your makeup looking its best and locked in place.

Below is BD’s step-by-step guide for how to prep your skin for this upcoming Valentine’s Day.

Step 1 – Cleanse

Let’s get back to basics – before we can work on the glow, we need to cleanse. It’s important to get rid of any dirt or bacteria building up in our pores, as this can affect how your makeup might sit.

We like to use Biore hydrate and glow gentle cleanser. It’s great for dry and sensitive skin as it doesn’t strip the natural moisture barriers, leaving skin feeling soft and dewy.

Step 2 – Mask

Since it’s date night, why not spend alittle extra time skin prepping.

Try using a face mask that targets your concerns. If you have dry skin, a hydrating mask like Lycon Skin Deep Hydration with hyaluronic acid is perfect. It makes skin feel hydrated and plump giving a smooth and supple feel.

On the other hand, if you’rebattling breakouts and enlarged pores, opt for aface mask like Natio Spirit Green Clay which helps refine pores and prevent any further breakouts from happening.

Step 3 - Moisturise

Moisturising is key when it comes to skin prep – you want to avoid any dryness or flaking.

Try using a hydrating moisturiser that contains oils to nourish and strengthen the skin and improve texture. Etat pur rich moisturising cream provides long-lasting hydration made with plant waxes that also softens and smooths the skin.

Step 4 – Eye contour

Eyes are the window to the soul, and in this case, you want them to look their best ahead of your date.

To target eye concerns such as puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles try using an eye massager. You can combine the two and use an eye cream like Eau Thermale Avène Derm Absolu Youth Eye Cream which helps combat eye puffiness and dark circles, keeping the delicate eye area soft and refreshed.

Step 5 – Prime

Before you dive into your date night makeup routine, you’ll want to prime your complexion.

A skin-benefiting makeup primer will work best to enhance the appearance of your base, and make your makeup last. Lancôme Prep & Hydrate Illuminating Make-up Primer is perfect for this.It helps to enhance the longevity of your foundation, as well as keeping it sat in place to avoid any creasing or movements.
