The sustainability switch: L'Occitane shares sustainability goals

We're all becoming more conscious of our footprint through our day-to-day lives and our beauty routines shouldn't be left out when considering how to be more sustainable.

Known for its luxurious products, L'Occitane is a leader in the beauty industry through sustainability practices, without altering its product efficacy or experience.

Rooted in the brand's ethos, sustainability has always been on the forefront of product development as L'Occitane continues to rethink beauty for a happier and stronger earth.

As cultivators of change, the brand prioritises naturally-derived products, the land which its ingredients grow from and holistically sourcing these key elements, like the Immortelle Flower and Shea Nut, through suppliers who exclusively hold longstanding relationships with L'Occitane.

The brand has the goal to have 100 per cent of its bottles made from 100 per cent recycled plastic by 2025. But for today, here are five ways L'Occitane is helping to save the planet.

Eco-Refill products

L'Occitane offer 26 of its products in eco refills, meaning you can reduce the amount of packaging (and the cost!) when you repurchase your favourites. Brand icons such as the Almond Shower Oil, Reset Oil-in-Serum, and Shea Ultra-Rich Body Cream. These refills use 85 per cent less plastic than a regular bottle, allowing original packaging to be re-used and saving roughly 200 tonnes of plastic each year.

Refill Fountains

Visit one of L'Occitane's five Refill Fountains across the country to top up on your favourite products without creating waste. Plus, it will save you dollars and feed into the brand's Zero Waste initiative. You can find a Refill Fountain at the Green Store at Westfield Bondi in NSW, Westfield Chermside in QLD, Westfield Booragoon in WA, Hobart in TAS, and Chadstone in VIC.

Forever Bottles

Like the name suggests, these stunning aluminium bottles are made to stand the test of time. Perfect for liquid soaps, lotions and body products, top up with one of the product refills or bring your bottle into a store which houses a Refill Fountain.

TerraCycle

Bring your empty beauty products into your closest L'Occitane store to recycle them in the TerraCycle bins so you can rest easy knowing your beauty waste is being processed and reused properly.

Powered by renewables

By purchasing with L'Occitane, you're supporting a business that powers its 55 boutiques, warehouse and head office with renewable energy in Australia, with a goal of becoming carbon net zero by 2030.

The brand also has a 'shop by commitment' tab on its website, so you can now filter by what sustainability efforts mean most to you. You can find the L'Occitane range here.
