Music helps inspire top hair trends for 2013

Inspired by the Sound of Colour”, Wella Professionals have identified four hair trends set to be big in 2013 – Fusion, Decibel, Echo and Allegra.

Exploring the synergy between aesthetic beauty and the world of music, Wella Professionals global creative directors Eugene Souleiman (care and styling) and Josh Wood (colour) discovered new trends that personify the link between sound and colour.

I react very well with music - I see colours, I see textures, I see shape, I see movement, I get a feeling for the character that we are trying to create for a collection; so, for me, marrying those two areas is a totally natural process,” says Souleiman.

Fusion: The Worldly Spirit – Merging the experimental Eastern spirit with Western culture, Fusion is a mix of the contradictions of a modern-day geisha with a club girl. Colours include willow and porcelain with pastel accents.

Decibel: The Vibrant Optimist – This trend is all about the feeling of a technical style becoming unfinished, left looking raw and unpolished,” explains Souleiman. Decibel includes pops of virtual colours.

Echo: The Emotional Tyrant – A reflection and reaction to the world’s current state of affairs and economic downturn, the Echo hair trend plays off tensions against each other - such as a dishevelled fishtail braid. The colour palette is a juxtaposition of natural-looking tones against dense tones.

Allegra: The Object of Beauty – Perfect hair that is healthy, clean and polished. The colour palette is brazen gold, rose gold, platinum and green gold.
