How did you kick off your makeup artist career?

I was 18 when I started to train at The Makeup School and once graduated I found I had to be SO proactive about getting my name out into the industry. I worked hard at this and building up a supportive local clientele, building my own website and starting social media channels which began to generate regular work for me and each year my business grew that little bit more. I was a solely freelance artist from day one so I started to assist other leading MUA at that time. I learnt as much as I could from them where I could! I’m very proud to now be celebrating 10 years as a freelance artist this year!

Is there one staple product you will use on every client and why?

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray for every client! This is the best setting spray I have ever used to keep your makeup in place. Every single client gets spritzed with this before leaving my makeup chair.

What three makeup brands are your favourite?

We are so spoilt for choice these days with so many amazing brands now available to us in New Zealand (and so many more on the way!) My current favourites if I had to choose three (which is so difficult being the makeup junkie I am) it would be NARS, STILA and BOBBI BROWN.

What’s your signature day to day makeup look VS evening look?

I’m a mum of two so my day to day makeup look is very simple and efficient. It’s often done with a baby on my hip and takes no longer than 5 minutes. I’m all about the skin so I always focus on this by using an illuminating base - I can’t go without it. My favourite at the moment is the Lancome Glow drops! You'll also most likely never see me without a pop of colour on the lips. It makes me look so fresh and gives my face a huge lift even on those tired days. My night time look is always pretty simple too. If anything I would just amp up my day makeup with a bronze smoky eye and some highlighting! Again keeping skin fresh I never like to cake my makeup on, it’s nice to still see imperfections sometimes.

What hair or makeup trend are you most keen to try next?

I’m seeing a lot of colour recently - bright pops of blue and emerald on the eyes or any colour for that matter - paired with super fresh glowing skin so that would be fun to try out although I don't think any of my brides would go for that look!
