New Zealand’s largest MECCA store will open to the public in Auckland this Friday. Following the opening of the first concept store in Wellington last month, the new 500+ square metre space on Queen Street will be an all-encompassing beauty destination, fusing existing Cosmetica and Maxima concepts.
Like the Wellington store, the space will have dedicated areas for fragrance, skincare, makeup and more, and will house some of the world’s most luxurious and coveted beauty brands.
“Housing over 100 brands that are exclusive to New Zealand in one shopping destination is a dream come true for a beauty fanatic like myself, and I am thrilled to offer up this concept to our Auckland shoppers too,” says MECCA founder Jo Horgan.
The large-format beauty bazaar includes a dedicated skin area with brands such as Eve Lom, Drunk Elephant, Tatcha and Kate Somerville. The makeup offering includes MECCA-exclusive cult-classic brands NARS, Hourglass, Chantecaille and Stila, as well as Maxima favourites Urban Decay, Too Faced, Smashbox and MECCA MAX.
The MECCA Perfumeria area will include brands Byredo, Diptyque, Frederic Malle, 100 Bon and more. The store will also have a space, Trove, which showcases global beauty treasures, highlighting the most sought-after new brands. Here, products from Le Sourcil, IIUVO, Angela Caglia and more will be available.
MECCA’s Beauty Lab and Play Bar concepts will provide customers with spaces to experiment with the latest products and learn new techniques. A total of 10 makeup stations are available for makeup appointments, plus an area for skincare consultations and treatments.
Customers will be able to book a seat in the Beauty Lab space and participate in complimentary scheduled beauty workshops. Hosted by a MECCA expert from Thursday-Sunday, they give beauty lovers a chance to learn how to create the latest on-trend looks. Additionally, customers can book in for a one-on-one 15 minute appointment with a MECCA expert to answer all of their beauty questions.
The new Auckland concept store is the fourth to open in Australasia following Wellington’s Lambton Quay in August. It is also the tenth in New Zealand’s MECCA store network. The nearby Mecca Maxima at 191 Queen Street will continue to trade.
MECCA Auckland opens Friday 21 September at 9am and is located at 203 Queen Street (formerly Topshop). On the day, MECCA will be offering beauty prizes from brands such as Urban Decay and Nars, plus beauty pick-me-ups, treats and complimentary Beauty Lab sessions.
