Is there anything better than getting a compliment on your perfume?
If there’s one thing fragrance lovers agree on, it’s that nothing beats an unexpected compliment. Whether it’s a passing remark on the commute or a friend leaning in to ask what you’re wearing, those moments tend to linger.
With that in mind, Myer wanted to uncover which perfumes are being complimented most in Australia. They analysed more than 23,500 Myer perfume review comments from 2012 to 2025, scanning for compliment-driven language from “complimented,” “head turner” and “friends commented” to uncover the perfumes that attract the highest share of compliment mentions.
Mentions of compliments in reviews have tripled since 2019, highlighting a growing trend of Australians choosing fragrances that leave a memorable impression.
Perfume pages also ranked among Myer’s top ten most visited gifting URLs last Christmas, showing why these scents are a standout choice for gifting.

Myer fragrance merchandise planner, Sasha Likar said the research shows just how deeply compliments influence fragrance choices.
"Fragrance is an emotional purchase; it’s about confidence, attraction, and self-expression," said Likar.
"What really stands out from the data is that compliments are a huge part of how people evaluate their signature scent – the moments when friends ask, ‘What are you wearing?’ are what make a perfume truly memorable and desirable."
"This is why they’re such a perfect gift: giving a scent that turns heads and sparks conversation shows thoughtfulness and leaves a lasting impression."
