Hair lamination: The next big trend?

Meet the next trend set to take the beauty world by storm: Hair lamination, a treatment that only takes eight seconds to complete.

Not to be confused with brow lamination, which in recent months has taken over social media feeds everywhere, hair lamination is a revolutionary cosmetic treatment that has been dubbed the last resort for dull, damaged hair.

The main aim is to protect hair against loss of moisture and damage. However, many people are now opting for the treatment to help them achieve silky, smooth, soft and shiny hair. According to experts, it’s the perfect remedy to combat frizz, leaving the hair straight and making it easier to brush and style.

Salon experts simply coat the hair with a thin layer of laminate, which is mostly comprised of active ingredients such as gelatin, keratin or oils, leaving hair soft and with intensified shine. Heat-activated and applied at the backwash, the process involves creating a protective layer over each stand of hair, effectively closing the cuticle scales and restoring the proteins which play a huge role in hair repair.

"The result is incredible instant gloss and shine – imagine those signature Kim Kardashian super glossy locks often seen on the red carpet,” Dubai-based Sisters Beauty Lounge director, Jamilla Paul, said. “This is the result you'll get after having a hair lamination treatment."
