Consumer interest in hair care, specifically styling, is gaining traction, according to new data from Trendalytics.
As searches for styling products grow based on weekly searches compaired to last year, Trendalytics content marketing manager, Kristin Breakell said the spike is linked to the pandemic.
"During the pandemic, we saw a huge boom in hair care, because everyone was at home," said Breakell. "Now, we’re seeing more of a split with hairstyles.
"It mirrors the pandemic in a way, everyone is going out again and being social again. There’s increased interest in hairstyling and haircuts, especially with the summer months coming," she said.
Styling trends are also growing thanks to social media.
"People are wanting to go out and are more interested in dressing up, that’s definitely a driving factor," Breakell added. "But now, people are asking how they should do their hair, and that’s when they go to social media. Instagram is driving forward some of those styles, too."
